TRUTH...
I have been writing for a speaking engagement. I have been studying truth. It seems as though the world is getting sucked into a vortex of lies, and to find truth about certain things is getting difficult, if not impossible.
As I was researching, I found this quote by one of scientists who designed the atom bomb for the Soviet Union. He became fully aware what lies can and will do to a society. He states, “I've always thought that the most powerful weapon in the world was the bomb and that's why I gave it to my people, but I've come to the conclusion that the most powerful weapon in the world is not the bomb but it's the truth” Andrei Sakharov
Now let that sink in as we hear lies daily. You ask, how can you discern a lie? I would say, I cannot, but the Holy Spirit can.
Let’s see what the scripture has to say about truth and lies. First of all, Jesus states that the devil is a liar. In fact, Jesus calls him the father of all lies. Jesus also states that the devil does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. And lastly, when the devil lies, he speaks from his character. Wow! These statements are so loaded and very telling of the devil, himself and why people lie.
Now, let’s look at what the Bible tells us about truth and God’s character. Of course, it is the opposite of the devil.
Hebrews 6:18. “ God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.”
John 14:6 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 18:37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
John 8:32 “and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
John 16:13 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
John 17:17 “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.”
1 Cor 13.6 “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.”
I have never understood the importance of truth, as I have today. It is a spiritual battle for our minds, and eventually for our souls. Truth is to be used as a weapon to defeat the enemy (Satan). See, when we walk in lies, we are deceived. But when we walk in truth, we are free. Oh friend, do you get this, truth is not just a concept, it is a person. His name is Jesus. If you don’t know Him, you too will be sucked into this vortex of lies which are taking this world by a spiritual storm. Oh friend, be on the side of truth and listen to Jesus. He is the only way to discern the truth from a lie. He cannot lie, for It is not in His character.
