SELF-CONTROL

Self-control Out of all of the characteristic traits of Christ, the one I struggle with the most is self-control. See, self-control encompasses everything. Self-control means I give Him control over my mouth, my spending, my eating, my anger, and even my social media addiction. Now I am sure the last one has got your attention. Listen up Girlfriend, no need to feel defeated. We are overcomers. As we look to the fruit of the spirit, we may shine in one of the characteristics more than the other. But when Christ came into our hearts, He gave all of us an equal distribution of grace for the entire nine. Yes, you have been give the same amount of grace to love, for peace, to be kind, to be gentle as well as to walk in self-control. Therefore, don’t think you can’t exhibit self-control. You can walk in self-control just like you can love and kindness. First recognize it is a choice. We can choose to walk in the fruit. Second, begin to pray for self-control to be exhibited in your life. Third, this is not a self-determined call, this is a call to lean on Him, to pull from His strength. It is His grace that give us the power. When I do exhibit self-control, I am walking in power, freedom, and satisfaction, for self-control liberates and leaves no regrets. Galatians 5:22–23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (ESV)
