Not Feeling It Today?

Yep, there are many days I don’t feel like running. I will wrestle with myself. On those days, I will procrastinate for as long as I can. I will talk to myself and go back and forth of why I need and don’t need to run. Then all of a sudden, something rises up in me, and I will decide to go for it.

At first, my run will seem like I have feet of iron. It is though I am carrying far more weight with each stride. It is a struggle to keep up any kind of pace. However, by the time I am in the middle of my run, the heaviness has dissipated. My legs have become lighter, and my stride swifter. I have become convinced “I will not only finish this run, but I so needed THIS exercise today.”

Is God requiring obedience on something today? Are you just not feeling it? Believe me, I have been there. Even though I never win, wrestling with God is something I have done quite often. I don’t know if my wrestling comes from my stubbornness or disobedient heart, probably a little of both. Unfortunately, I am not quick to recognize the benefit of what He is asking. It is probably because I don’t know the outcome, or how the person might react toward me. I think I struggle with trusting God.

Nonetheless, I finally get to the point, I’ve got to obey, even though I am not feeling it. I comprehend, He is not going to relent, until I obey. Recognizing His authority is my first steps to obedience. As I take the first step toward His request, my pace begins to pick up. Before I know it, I am running. In my obedience, the burden is lightened. It is so rewarding to please God and realize how much I needed THIS today.

Anyway, If I expect results, I must not allow my feelings to direct my path..

Can you relate? Are you wrestling with an obedience issue? Are you procrastinating? If so, my advice is start walking toward obedience. Before you know you are running the course of life His way. You are on the right path, sprinting in style, and the burden is lightened.

Jeremiah 7:23

But this command I gave them: ‘Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’
