Preparation..

As I was driving the other day, I came across a marquee in front of a church that stated "Prepare your hearts, for Christ is coming."

I wasn't sure if the marquee was communicating a message of Christmas or the second coming of Christ. I had to ask myself, "Was I preparing for the coming of Christ?" I thought of the all preparation that goes into Christmas alone.

Most of us will shop, bake, and decorate until the last moments of the season. We will spend long nights wrapping; we get up early to clean, and rush packages off to who knows where, and then we take many trips to the store to pick up that one item for the Christmas meal.

The time that has been spent in preparing for the "big" day is immeasurable, yet the question still remains, how much time have we taken to prepare our hearts? Yes, many of us read our devotionals and pray, but have we prepared our hearts? If Christ were to come today, would our hearts be ready?

James 5:8 (NKJV)

8 "... Establish "prepare" your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand." *Emphasis added by the author
